Michael Sam made history in 2014 as the first openly gay player drafted by the NFL. He has won ESPY’s Arthur Ashe Courage Award and the Human Rights Campaign’s Upstander Award and was nominated as a finalist for Sports Illustrated’s Sportsman of the Year.
