About "The Boys Next Door"

Dramedy "The Boys Next Door" Takes a Loving Look at Life With Disabilities

"The Boys Next Door" gives you a fly-on-the-wall glimpse of a communal residence in New England where four mentally handicapped men live under the supervision of an earnest, but increasingly "burned out" young social worker named Jack. Through brief vignettes, you'll see what day-to-day life is like in their colorful group home. The production is peppered with scenes where "little things" sometimes become momentous...and often very funny. You'll also see moments of great poignancy when moving scenes remind us that these four -- like the rest of us -- just want to love, laugh and find some purpose in life. Tom Griffin's touching play originally debuted in 1988 and was adapted into an award-winning 1996 Hallmark Hall of Fame movie starring Tony Goldwyn, Mare Winningham and Nathan Lane. Lon Barrera directs this ONSTAGE in Bedford production.
