Four Female Friends Take a Funny and Poignant Trip to Myrtle Beach in "Shag"

The Shag is a sultry form of swing that pairs perfectly with the languid party vibes of Myrtle Beach, where the four female leads in Art Centre Theatre's "Shag" head off to for one last summer bonanza before one of their own marries a rich square. There, they find beer, boys and a dance contest as their adventure turns into a soul-searching journey that will spur some serious life decisions. Adapted for the stage from a 1989 film starring Bridget Fonda and Phoebe Cates, "Shag" brings a lighthearted yet poignant coming-of-age comedy to Plano.
