Award-winning Venezuelan pianist Gabriela Martinez brings her "panache and poetry" ("The Dallas Morning News") to the Richardson Symphony Orchestra to help launch its latest season with one of her signature pieces, Rachmaninoff's "Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini". With more than 50 years of history behind it, the RSO and its music director and maestro Clay Couturiaux continue to innovate and excite with their choice of wide-ranging works. This concert at the Eisemann Center features Verdi's Overture to "La Forza del Destino" and Sibelius' Symphony No. 2. Guest soloist Martinez is a Juilliard grad who's known for her glamorous stage presence, as well as her lyrical style of playing. She's appeared in recital at Carnegie Hall and with major orchestras in the U.S. and abroad, and is readying the release of her debut solo album.
