About "O'Keeffe"

"O'Keeffe!" One-Woman Show on Artist's Life

The colorful and unconventional true story of Georgia O'Keeffe, the iconic 20th-century modernist painter who's famed for her portraits of the Southwestern deserts, comes to vibrant life in this one-woman show at the Addison Theatre Centre. O'Keeffe was discovered as a young artist in the year 1916, by famed photographer and art-gallery owner Alfred Steiglitz. Though he was married and 23 years her senior, that meeting kicked off a passionate love affair and marriage, that turned turbulent over the next 30 years, as her fame grew, as well as her struggle to retain her independence as an artist and person. Carolyn Wickwire stars in this WaterTower Theatre production of the play by Lucinda McDermott.
