Octavia Spencer at Educational First Steps 25th Anniversary Celebration

On Friday, Oct. 23, the nonprofit organization Educational First Steps will celebrate 25 years of lifting the quality of early education for North Texas’ at-risk children. Octavia Spencer, the Academy Award-winning actress best known for her role as Minny in “The Help” and a children’s book author, headlines the luncheon to be held at the Omni Dallas Hotel.

Educational First Steps partners with preschools, daycare centers and at-home caregivers in impoverished neighborhoods, helping them to transform babysitting into teaching and to give the youngest at-risk children a strong foundation of social and academic skills.
