About “Iris” graces the screen Dec. 1 with her style and wit

“Iris” – a documentary focusing on 90+ year old fashion icon Iris Apfel who possesses a well-developed, self deprecating sense of humor - is presented by First Tuesday Social Justice Films at Unitarian Universalist Church of Oak Cliff, 3839 W. Kiest Blvd., Dallas. (83 minutes; PG-13 Parents strongly cautioned. There is no admission charged; refreshments are provided. Audience talk back follows.

Iris was known in the worlds of fashion and design for decades, but it wasn’t until the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York staged a show of her work in 2005, and it turned into a big word-of-mouth hit, that she became a public celebrity—or a “geriatric starlet,” as she puts it.

This presentation is co-sponsored by the UUCOC’s Social Justice Ministry and is operated by volunteers. Upcoming films include “Over Criminalized?”/”Released” in January, “Tuskegee Airmen” in February, and “Project Nim” in March.
