Brass Extravaganza

Fine Arts Chamber Players presents a FREE concert of dynamic music for brass ensemble at the Dallas Museum of Art on Saturday, April 25, 2015. This Bancroft Family Concert features brass musicians from the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, The Dallas Opera Orchestra and area university faculty led by Gregory Hustis. Horchow Auditorium doors open at 2:30pm for the 3:00pm concert.

Conducted by Gregory Hustis, former Principal Horn of the Dallas Symphony and current faculty at UTDallas and SMU, this brass extravaganza will feature music by Wallingford Riegger, G.F. Handel, Giovanni Gabrieli, Morten Lauridsen and Rimsky Korsakov. Of special note, Mr. Hustis has included a premiere of Quinn Mason’s brass quintet, Masonian Rondo. As a scholarship student at FACP since fall of 2007, Quinn Mason received a Tommy Tranchin Award from The Dallas Foundation to study composition with Dr. Robert Rodriguez at UTDallas in the summer of 2013. The Tommy Tranchin Award supports students with autism or other challenges who have excelled or shown promise in a chosen field of interest. Quinn is a senior at North Dallas High School who has studied composition and music theory with Dr. Winston Stone at UTDallas for the past four years.

Bancroft Family Concerts are made possible in part by the Sue & Christopher Bancroft Family, Dallas Museum of Art, Union Pacific Foundation, City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs, TACA, Texas Commission on the Arts, Dallas Arts District Foundation, National Endowment for the Arts and Sloan Bergmann Print Services. For over 35 years, FACP has presented free classical music programs for the enrichment of North Texas area residents. In addition to the free Bancroft Family Concerts, FACP presents the free Basically Beethoven Festival in July. Each year, FACP’s educational outreach programs: Dream Collectors, Music A to Z, residencies and masterclasses, provide over 500 free educational classes and performances in area public schools. Since its inception in 1981, FACP has served over 210,000 children and performed for over a half-million residents of North Texas.
