About Ballet Folklórico de México de Amalia Hernández

Traditional Mexican Folk Music & Dance With Ballet Folklórico de México

Urged on by the throbbing mariachi music, swirling colors and stamping heels, even an Olmec head would crack a smile when Ballet Folklórico de México de Amalia Hernández performs. For when this most famous of all traditional Mexican dance troupes starts to dance, the excitement and enthusiasm radiates from the stage to the seats. The choreography is so thrilling and the costumes so fantastic, their performances can seem like a south-of-the-border "Fantasia" come to life. Steeped in the lively traditional folk music and dance traditions of Mexico's various regions, Ballet Folklórico has toured extensively for more than 50 years. Now the group "The New York Times" called "a national institution in Mexico" brings their special form of magic to Verizon Theatre.
