About 9th Annual Charles Barr Memorial Concert
Fine Arts Chamber Players invites you to a FREE Bancroft Family Concert on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 3:00pm featuring 13-year-old violin virtuoso Claire Wells at the Dallas Museum of Art’s Horchow Auditorium. The museum is located in the Dallas Arts District at 1717 North Harwood, Dallas, TX 75201. Admission to the museum and the concert is free with no reservations or tickets required. Violinist Claire Wells of Plano, Texas will present a program with collaborative pianist Tatiana Brizhaneva including Violin Sonata in G, Op.30 No.3 by Ludwig van Beethoven, Violin Sonata No.2 in A Major, Op.100 by Johannes Brahms, and Josef Suk’s Four Pieces for Violin and Piano, Op. 17. Claire has won multiple competitions including the 2011 Hubbard Concert Competition, 2012 Collin County Concerto Competition, 2012 Vernell Gregg National Concerto Competition, 2014 Menuhin International Violin Competition, and 2015 Oregon Mozart Players Concerto Competition. Sponsored by Eric and Catherine Barr, this performance will honor the memory of their son, Charles Barr, a Dallas-native bassist with the Cleveland Orchestra, who died at the age of 31 in a tragic bicycle accident.
Bancroft Family Concerts are made possible in part by the Sue & Christopher Bancroft Family, Eric and Catherine Barr, City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs, Dallas Arts District, TACA, Dallas Museum of Art, Texas Commission on the Arts, Union Pacific Foundation and Sloan Bergmann Commercial Print Services Company. For over 33 years, FACP has presented free classical music programs for the enrichment of North Texas residents. In addition to the free Bancroft Family Concerts, FACP presents the free Basically Beethoven Festival in July. Each year, FACP’s educational outreach programs, Dream Collectors, Music A-Z, and Music Residencies, provide over 500 free educational classes and performances in area public schools. Since its inception in 1981, FACP has served over 210,000 children and performed for over 530,000 residents of North Texas.
